You will not receive calls if you do not set up your Voicemail and other helpful information. #AnnounceIT

June 10th, 2014 by Lynda S. LaRoche

Did you know that you will not receive calls if you do not set up your Voicemail on your new phone? As mentioned 5/14, setting up your Voicemail is quick and easy:

  • Lift the handset
  • Press the Messages key
  • Listen to the system prompts to
    • Change your PIN
    • Record your name
    • Record your greeting

Quick Tip: Call Forwarding

Going on vacation? Off-campus over summer? Make sure your calls are answered by setting up call forwarding.

The easiest and most flexible way to set up call forwarding is by using the CommPortal; however, here are instructions on how to set it up using your handset:

Type of Forwarding Enable Code Disable Code
Immediate/Unconditional *72 *73
Busy *90 *91
No Answer/Delay *92 *93

Class of 2018 photo upload for DePauw ID card deadline approaches. #ConnectIT

June 5th, 2014 by Lynda S. LaRoche

As the June 13th deadline approaches for you to upload your photo for your DePauw ID card, it is exciting for us to start getting familiar with the faces that we will soon see walking around campus. Although your high school senior pictures and other creative poses are impressive, they do not fall within the required guidelines for us to use for your DePauw ID card.

The photo you upload should be passport-style taken within the last six months that meets the following guidelines.

NOTE: Please follow these guidelines carefully because
your photo will be rejected if it does not meet these requirements.

  • It must be a focused color photo taken in full-face view (e.g. only your head and the top of your shoulders) with you directly facing the camera.
  • Prescription glasses are allowed. You may not wear sunglasses, hats, hoodies, or headphones.
  • The photo should not have flash reflections, glare, or shadows.
  • The background must be uniform, plain, and white. You may want to consider using a plain white sheet or towel or a large sheet of white paper as a backdrop for your photo.
  • The photo must be in JPEG (.jpg) format and no larger than 1 MB.

For specific information on uploading your photo, go to the IT KnowledgeBase article DePauw ID Card: Uploading a photo.

CommPortal is an online portal for managing your phone settings including your voicemail. Whether you are off campus for summer break or working from home, you can go to On-campus phones: CommPortal for instructions on managing your phone. You may also want to print off the Quick Reference Guide as a handy reference for the most commonly used features of your phone.

Please contact Nikki Weber-Brueggeman at or (765) 658-4580 if you are a department liaison who still needs to schedule a consultation to confirm the basic configurations of the phones in your area.

Orientation sessions

New orientation sessions have been added to the Information Services Workshop and Event Calendar for the month of June. We have also added several sessions on August 18th and 19th for anyone needing a refresher for the start of the 2014/2015 academic year.
